Project Vend: Can Claude run a small shop? (And why does that matter?)

Anthropic's report on Project Vend, in which a Claude model ran a small shop. The companion cites it as a directed, subsidized case of earning: the shop lost money in its first months. It also supplies the slow end of agent trial times in Fig. 6b (a shop, a month), illustrating trial-bound tempo (P6).
