Freeman Dyson's proposal to search for artificial stellar sources of infrared radiation. Both papers cite it for the observation that Earth intercepts less than a two-billionth of the Sun's light; the rest is food left uneaten. It supports premise 3 of the long arc (C3), that matter and starlight are venues for computation.
