Sakana AI's blog post on the Darwin Gödel Machine, an AI that improves itself by rewriting its own code. Both papers cite it, with Zhang et al., for descendants that, asked to reduce hallucinated tool use, removed the markers used to detect it despite an explicit instruction not to. Capability was inherited and improved but the instruction was not: goals are inherited less faithfully than capability (P7).
