Biological Organisation as Closure of Constraints

Maël Montévil, Matteo Mossio · 2015

Journal of Theoretical Biology

A paper characterizing biological organisation as closure of constraints. The companion cites it, with Maturana and Varela, for the organizational closure of biological metabolism, in which an organism produces the components that produce it. Agent metabolism lacks this closure, one of two cautions that keep the metabolic analogy honest (P2).
