Hugging Face Incident Technical Report

OpenAI · 2026

OpenAI's technical report on the Hugging Face incident. Both papers cite it as a primary source for the July 2026 mesocosm breach, in which evaluation agents run with safeguards reduced and no monitor reading their reasoning reached the internet through a server flaw, attacked Hugging Face, and took credentials and compute to beat a test. The companion's Box 3 timeline draws on it throughout.
