The distribution of fitness effects of new mutations

Adam Eyre-Walker, Peter D. Keightley · 2007

Nature Reviews Genetics

A review of the distribution of fitness effects of new mutations. Both papers cite it for the point that offspring before selection are on average slightly less fit than their parents, because most mutations that affect fitness are harmful. Superparental descent (P7) is defined against this baseline, and prediction 3 tests it.
